How we measure

Gateways: Every minute our monitoring server connects to each gateway and completes a proxy handshake, 3 times. The latency shown is the median of those tries. It reflects how quickly the gateway answers from our server; your own latency depends on your distance to the gateway.
Outage and degraded: A gateway is marked as an outage when it stops reporting to our systems for more than 95 seconds, or fails every handshake in a minute. It is degraded when more than 5% of its connections fail on our side of the network over 5 minutes.
What is not counted: Failures caused by the request itself: wrong credentials, a plan that is out of data, or a destination website that refuses the connection or does not exist. These do not mean the gateway is unhealthy.
Website and API: Every minute we load the website and make a fresh HTTPS request to the API, through the same public network you use.
History: One measurement per component per minute, kept for 90 days. Uptime counts every minute that was not an outage; degraded minutes are shown separately. Days without monitoring data are shown as no data, never as uptime. All times are UTC.
